EMONI

Design drawings of a battery module RESULTS • GOOD WELDABILITY WITH CELL ARRESTER IN THE LASER WELDING PROCESS • SIMPLE PARAMETER FINDING (SIMILAR TO THAT OF COMPARATIVE MATERIALS) • GOOD FORMABILITY • VERY GOOD ELECTRICAL & THERMAL PROPERTIES EMONI AND ITS PROPERTIES The project Diffusion-annealed, nickel-plated steel is a material that has been used for contacting of lithium-ion bat- teries, combining material properties such as con- ductivity, strength, formability and weldability. EMONI dispenses with the heat treatment after a galvanic nickel-plating, maintaining the same and positive material properties. To qualify EMONI, a material study was made within the field of micro-mobility in cooperation with PEM Motion and the PEM Chair of the RWTH Aachen Uni- versity. Similar to standard system configurations for battery systems in the field of micro-mobility, test systems were established on the basis of EMONI and comparative ma- terial and were subjected to system-based performan- ce tests. Before that, material specimens were used for performing qualified electrical tests and validating the weldability in the resistance-spot welding process on the basis of tensile specimens. 3
